Şanlıurfa’da Koyunlarda Babrik Bitkisi zehirlenmesi (Cionura erecta (L.)Griseb.

Cionura erecta (L.) Griseb., belongs to the Apocynaceae family, is one of poison plants in Turkey, widely grown Mediterranean region, and known as Babrik Turkey. In south east Anatolia, vernacular name plant Halava Kulf. Mello village Haliliye, district Şanlıurfa, poisoning sheep has been reported. This poisoned 120 herd 300 Haliliye Şanlıurfa. 50 seriously ill sheep,coordination disorder-weakness-difficulty breathing, coma were observed. A self-employed veterinarian responded toxication first by giving electrolyte supplementation medicated (antihistamine) serum; 37 these animals died.Then, veterinarians affiliated with provincial agriculture directorate intervened remains saved. Necropsy was also performed on deceased animals. observed gastrointestinal contents intense deformation rumen intestinal mucosa. Phytochemical studies compiled predict toxicity this case report.
